Codex
Introducing the theme for Press Print Party 2026: Codex.
A codex is a way of carrying knowledge forward. It gathers what we have learned, what we value, and what we believe is worth keeping. Independent publishing carries a similar kind of knowledge. It lives in the books we make, the methods we share, the networks we build, and the ways we find to keep going despite limited resources. Much of this knowledge is passed from one maker to another, through conversations, encounters, and years of practice.
For its 2026 edition, PPP takes Codex as a point of departure. The theme invites us to reflect on the knowledge, practices, and experiences that allow independent publishing to continue, and on how they are shared and carried forward. This is one fragment of a larger, ongoing codex, shaped collectively through the work of artists, publishers, printers, and readers.
